Frequently Asked Questions

Halotherapy

Halotherapy, also known as dry Salt Therapy is a holistic approach that mimics the microclimate of a salt cave. Dry salt air is dispersed into an enclosed environment (room, bed, booth, cabin) through a unique process generated by a halogenerator. This type of treatment is a safe and effective way of using salt’s natural antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and super absorbent properties to provide relief for respiratory and skin conditions.

When you heat salt, it becomes super dry, and kinetically more active. This heated and dry pure sodium chloride is then crushed into micro-sized particles and dispersed into the air in an enclosed environment. When micro-particles of dry salt is inhaled into the respiratory system, it does its job by absorbing and removing allergens, toxins and foreign substances in your lungs and throughout your respiratory tract. Salt also reduces any inflammation and opens airway passages making it easier to breathe.

Pure “dry” sodium chloride is heated and ground up in a machine called a halogenerator. The micro-sized crushed salt particles are then dispersed into the air in an enclosed environment (Salt Room, Halo-IR Booth). These particles of fine salt penetrate deep within the respiratory system and work to remove mucus build up and eliminate bacteria and toxins. This unique process helps open and expand the constricted airways allowing individuals to breathe easier and more clearly. Dry Salt Therapy also provides amazing skin rejuvenating benefits when the epidermis is exposed during treatment.

Dry Salt Therapy has many positive effects on our respiratory, skin and immune systems. It reduces bronchial inflammation, thins and removes mucus from the lungs, as well as improves lung capacity and functionality. It also reduces skin inflammation, improves cellular rejuvenation and decreases itching and irritated skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema. Dry Salt Therapy has also been very successful in reducing stress as well as enhancing our cardiovascular system.

In addition, those who suffer from the following conditions can greatly benefit from the halotherapy.

Allergies

Emphysema

Asthma

Psoriasis

Bronchitis

Pneumonia

Bronchial Infections

Rhinitis

Chronic ENT illnesses

Sinus Infections

Cold/Flu

Sinusitis

Cystic Fibrosis

Smoker’s Cough

Dermatitis

Snoring

Ear Infections

Stress and Fatigue

Eczema

Wheezing

As Halotherapy is known as a safe and natural treatment, clients who have any serious health conditions or women who are pregnant should always seek proper medical advice from a doctor first. Halotherapy is not recommended for people who have the following conditions.

  • Infections associated with a fever
  • Contagious diseases
  • Cancer
  • Tuberculosis
  • Cardiac disease patients
  • Acute respiratory disease
  • Severe hypertension
  • Chronic obstructive lung diseases
  • Intoxication

Normally there are no side effects. Some people might experience a scratchy throat or a tickle in their sinuses. Others who might be slightly more sensitive could experience a minor skin irritation, which tends to go away after a session or two. For those who experience a slight cough, this is a sign that the salt therapy is effectively working. The body is loosening and releasing all the mucous buildup.

99.99% pure sodium chloride (Pharmaceutical grade salt). It contains no fillers or caking agents. It does come from a natural source but it is naturally processed to remove all of its impure elements. It’s the same salt that hospitals use and is the same type of salt all the research has been conducted on. We do not recommend Himalayan or sea salt as it is not stripped of all the impurities. There could be dirt, clay or some type of debris that could be harmful to the lungs. It’s very healthy for the digestive system but not for the respiratory system.

Halotherapy offers the best results when practiced regularly. The benefits are cumulative so consistency and frequency are the key. People with chronic issues will benefit greatly if visiting salt rooms at least 3-4 times a week. Those who are looking to incorporate Salt Therapy into their regular wellness routine would benefit from a weekly session. Halotherapy is safe to use on a daily basis if desired.

Many patients who have asthma, allergies and other bronchial issues have seen some amazing results in a short period of time. Breathing became easier, more energy was experienced and people just had an overall better quality of life. While we don’t make any medical claims about Dry Salt Therapy, patients’ respiratory issues and lung functions have vastly improved after receiving treatments. In addition, those who have severe skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema or acne have also had incredible improvements in the health of their skin.

Infrared Sauna Therapy

Infrared Sauna Therapy is a resource used to safely detoxify the body from the chemicals, metals and other impurities found in our air, food and water. It also stimulates your immune, lymphatic and cardiovascular systems. This creates improved heart health, increased circulation, lower blood pressure and many more health benefits.

The infrared heat waves penetrate deep into the body. They send vibrations to the fat cells, thus releasing the toxins stored in them. Infrared waves raise the body temperature from the inside and activate the sweat glands, which eliminates the toxins through the skin in sweat.

Red Light Therapy (RLT)

Red light therapy is a natural healthcare resource used to regenerate the body’s cells and give them more energy.  The process in which this happens is called photobiomodulation.

The wavelength of red light gives cells more energy.

When the cells have more energy they can function better.  This brings health and healing to the body.  The body’s cells are responsible for many very important functions of the body.  These include: structure/support, growth, transporting nutrients and waste, energy production, metabolism and reproduction.

A red light therapy treatment is simple. Just sit in front of a tower that emits red light and near infrared light. The specific wavelengths at Get Salty & Lit are red light at 650nm and near infrared at 850nm.

Float Therapy

Float therapy involves floating in a large bath tub with body temperature water about 12-15”“ deep. The water contains about 900 lbs. of Epsom salt. The high concentration of salt allows a person to release all muscles and float in the water effortlessly.  Ideally the environment in the room removes all modern distractions including sound and light. This is sometimes referred to as sensory deprivation and allows your body and mind to release tension and deeply relax. It is an alternative therapy to help stress, anxiety, reduce pain and much more.

Everyone’s body is different and will therefore ultimately obtains results unique to itself and in it’s own time frame. However, here is a general overview of the benefits that people have found from using float therapy.

The combination of sensory depravation and the affects of the magnesium in the Epsom salts, many people have found the following benefits from consistent float therapy treatments.
